I thought I'd do a post on all the books I've bought this month. I've read one of them, three of them are for school and the other two I'm really excited to read!
1. The Diviners by Libba Bray
I'll be reading this as soon as I've finished the Queen of the Tearling because I've heard so many good things! Also I'm a big fan of the time period it's set in and really like New York so this seems like the perfect fit! Plus the added bonus of a fantasy twist...
2. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
I read this pretty much as soon as I bought it. This is by far my favourite book I read this month and may be one of my favourites read this year! I loved the characters and if you want to know more about my feelings towards this book, I did a review of it in my last post.
3. Dorothy Must Die
This I bought because I saw Sasha Alsberg plugging it and when I bought Carry On, I felt like I needed to buy another book so I bought this. I'm not buzzing to read this but I want to read it all the same. I do love a good kickass main character.
4. Hamlet by William Shakespeare
I'm doing this for my English Literature coursework and only had a complete works of Shakespeare which is an unnecessary size to bring to school every day! For our coursework we choose a piece of literature and argue why it should or should not be in the Canon and after seeing Hamlet performed, I fell in love with the play so am doing it.
5. Punk Rock by Simon Stephens
This was because I had an essay for next week and she ran out of books so I had to buy one. I really don't like this play but people have said that that's because we're comparing it to the History Boys which, in my opinion, is so much better.
6. Macbeth by William Shakespeare
We're studying this for my English Exam next year along with, Wuthering Heights (which I have about twenty copies of anyway), Frankenstein (I bought that a while back) and Dr Faustus which I bought with these but was an awkward shape to put in this picture.
NaNoWriMo
I'm also taking part in NaNoWriMo this year! My book is called Caged and this is the synopsis:
After a deadly epidemic breaks out in her city, Marija volunteers to travel to the capital to get the key to the healers garden. Taking with her two guards, a stable boy and a healer, she sets off to Vrata. However when they arrive, they find the Queen dead and a new King in her place. With the city under seige, Marija must find her way out of the capital and to the Healer's Garden before it's too late.
